Pretentious People

Ever heard of the term, D.T.A.? Don't Trust Anybody. Especially in POKER.

The game has exploded beyond imagination, and thus you find yourself playing more and more against people you don't know. Most of us started playing the game with friends. But eventually, you meet other people who also play the game, in order to get better. There are some people who you might encounter that aren't really there to make friends, but just to take your money. That is normal. But then, there are some who just wanna screw you over. Period.

In poker, the greatest lesson one can learn is not how to manage money, but to learn how to read other people not just at the felt, but also outside of the gameroom. Don't be stupid to think that it's just a game, and the screwing over only stays within the game. It happens in real life all the time.

Poker is a microcosm of the real world; it is cunning, merciless and brutal. Concordantly, just as in real life, there is a hierarchy in the food chain. If you want to survive, you have to be the at the top. Survival of the Fittest.

If you think everybody around you are fishies and dolphins, think again. There are always sharks lurking around, pretending to be dolphins. So don't trust anybody you meet at the poker table. It's just a facade, a soiree, a masquerade.

I got soul but I’m not a soldier

It’s been almost two weeks now that I haven’t played the game. It’s hard, but I have to keep my priorities straight. I must admit, I screwed up big time; fortunately, it’s not too late for me to set my life straight, at least for the moment.

We hit some bumps along the way that forces us to make a detour towards our destination, our main goal. We must dig deep within ourselves to have the courage to continue on. We will encounter countless schmucks that will try to take advantage of us, and even try to take us down; we should be ready for those kinds of situations to protect our interests.

The show must go on as they say, and so must we.

Soul power to the y’all. You know who you are.

A White Christmas

The month of december is just around the corner. Bright parols and christmas lights seen all over the metro, Christmas songs playing at the malls, kris kringle and xmas shopping...............

I'm no scrooge but I think that my xmas is going to suck. It all started when I could not play poker anymore because of complications that led to the destruction of the matrix.

I just feel bad that there was once a place I called a second home were, people would come in, play some damn cards, have a couple of laughs (and beers) and have a fun time. But yes, shit does happen and it hit the fan.

It's sad and I'm pissed about everything, I'd pick bad beats over this.

Sorry guys, just wanted to vent (it is a blog), I hope you guys share the same feeling.

Home games anyone?

sweet emotions

You know what tilts me lately? Emotions at the poker table, I absolutely hate it. I can’t stand players ranting or bitching when they lose a hand. I can understand disbelief, shock, or even depression when they lose. So maybe it’s not emotion that I hate, it might be ego. Yeah, that’s right, I think its ego. I want to outplay rather than outcard these kind of players.

Let’s face one fact, and that is no one really tells you how to play a certain hand. You control what happens to you at the table. Not the dealer, not your opponent, not the deck, not your hole cards, not the flop, turn, or river, but you, and you alone. Yes, we all get unlucky sometimes when we are ahead before the flop then the board will favor the other guy. Tough luck, after all, it’s still gambling we’re doing. But don’t bitch when you get beaten by a guy who makes his flush on the river. Yes, you maybe ahead, but maybe you shouldn’t be in that hand after all playing your ace rag.

Let’s just stop pointing fingers. Let’s think if we did the right thing first… let’s be responsible for our own actions. don't always think that you are the best player at the table, chances are you're not. Cconfidence is a good thing, but being self - aware is way better.

Before Poker

Stuck in traffic, listening to friday madness - all the 80's hits , today! Got me thinking about poker, gambling, betting and more poker...

Just got home from the big c because Paul, a buddy, wanted to play some baccarat. After an hour of play I was down 3 big. I played some stud, baccarat, stud and then more baccarat. The first few minutes were fun, I was shuffling and riffling my chips, hoping to get lucky and win some party money. Then the next half hour, it wasn't fun losing 4-5 hands straight playing that damn baccarat game. No reason to tilt because that would be stupid.

The house will always win that's for sure. On the way home, I thought back on my first experiences gambling. 1. Pusoy Dos - betting 5-20 pesos per game, winner take all. 2. Playstation - 1-5k bets. Proud to say, I did (and will still) beat a lot of guys playing NBA live, including one famous UAAP cager just turned PBA pro (I just had to put that in! hehe) 3. Sports Betting - Broke even. 4. Casinos - sometimes even, most of the time broke, 'nuff said. 5. Poker - ...

Playing poker for almost 7 months now, I've learned tons of stuff, won/lost losta hands... what's the use of winning tonight when you're going to lose it tomorrow or the next week? When what matters the most is what happens in the next couple of years. Then ask yourself am I winning or losing, what do your spread sheets say?

To be continued....

PS2 NBA Live 05 or 06... any challengers? hehe :p

eliminated one by one until only a sole survivor
remains to claim victory.

the prime shift

the pinoy band wagon is starting all over again. before there was the shawarma, the pearl drinks, the macarena, and the ocho ocho. now its, no limit Texas hold 'em.

i have nothing against it, i'm actually happy that it's happening. let the good news spread across the land! that will be great for all of us. but, we have to be a step ahead of everyone else, the trendsetters if you will.

we should start learning how to play limit, pot-limit, omaha, 7 card stud, razz, draw ball, etc. that's just me. more poker the better for me.

information is power. the more tactics and strategy we have, the better.

Decisions decisions...

Alright, I've been thinking about a certain scenario that could arise during a tournament, and I want to hear your views about it. Lets say your playing a Multi-Table Tournament, got a bit unlucky, not getting the cards, being outdrawn by your opponents, resulting in a short stack. The question:

When do you push? What are the deciding factors for you to consider risking all of your stack and your tournament on the line?
