WTF?!?!?

Yes, you heard that right! I don't know WTF is happenning to me now, I don't feel the itch to play no more. It's been bugging me for quite a while, I miss hanging out and playing cards. But Tilter suggests, I finish reading Beyond Tells by J. McKenna before I play again. Im feeling exactly like fish out of water.

I was browsing through this book I read a year and a half ago, The 48 Laws of Power by R. Greene. To my surprise, now that I read some of the laws again, I find it very applicable and powerful to use them at the poker table. Let me share to you guys one law...

LAW 48 ASSUME FORMLESSNESS

JUDGEMENT
By taking a shape, by having a visible plan, you open yourself to attack. Instead of taking a form for your enemy to grasp, keep yourself adaptable and on the move. Accept the fact that nothing is certain and no law is fixed. The best way to protect yourself is to be as fluid and formless as water; never bet on stability or lasting order. Everything changes.

I just love the way he said 'never BET on stability'. When you think you're stable and ahead you bet and then you get beat, it's how the game is. The last line of this law goes something like this...'You use formlessness, not because it creates inner harmony and peace, but because it will increase your power... It means that ultimately you must throw out the laws the others preach, and the books they write to tell you what to do, and the sage advice of the elder.' 'The book states '...the definitive guide to modern manipulation.' Sounds like a good guide to me, take a look at it, and trust me it is a power poker book. ;)

I wish to become formlessness... fluid like water... fish to the water.

Fishizzle!

Before 48 laws of power, there was the Tao of Jeet Kune Do.

"Jeet Kune Do favors formlessness so it can assume all forms and since JKD has no style, it fits in with all styles. JKD utilizes all ways and is bound by none, and likewise, uses any technique and means to serve its end."

"When one has reached maturity in the art, one will have a formless form. It is like ice dissolving in water. When one has no form, one can be all forms; when one has no style, he can fit in with any style."

if that doesnt apply to poker, i dont know what does! hehe.

bruce lee will lose (via disqualification for sure) in the octagon coz the octagon (or any "reality" combat event) is bound by rules and laws designed to keep the "players" safe and secure. padded gloves, rules like no eye gouging, biting, groin shots, elbows, headbutts, etc., a padded mat, tapping out, all this crap is NOT real fighting.

Chuck lidell and tito ortiz are superbly conditioned ATHLETES. nothing more. if bruce lee was alive and in peak condition, those guys will have their eyes pushed in the back of their head and their groins smashed along with their shins before you can say "TAP OUT". haha!

"Please do not be concerned with soft versus firm, kicking versus striking, grappling versus hitting and kicking, long-range fighting versus in-fighting. There is no such thing as "this" is better than "that." Should there be one thing we must guard against, let it be partiality that robs us of our pristine wholeness and make us lose unity in the midst of duality.
There are styles that favor straight lines, then there are styles that favor curved lines and circles. Styles that cling to one partial aspect of combat are in bondage. Jeet Kune Do is a technique for acquiring liberty; it is a work of enlightenment."

ibang blog dapat to! hehe.
